IGU President and Chair of the LNG Event Series Steering Committee, Prof. Joe M Kang has announced that Qatar has been awarded as the host country for LNG2025, the 21st International Conference and Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas. Prof. Kang, representing the three owners of the event IGU, Gas Technology Institute (GTI) and International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) said: “Qatar’s key role in the future of the global LNG industry and the innovations it has proposed for LNG2025 made it an ideal host for the world’s premiere LNG industry event.”
The LNG Event Series is considered to be the world’s leading LNG event and, since LNG 1 in Chicago in 1968, has set the standard for technical and commercial innovation and strategic development. This is the second time the LNG Event Series has been awarded to Qatar with Doha previously the host city for LNG 14 in 2004.
His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of Qatar Petroleum, said, “We are pleased to be awarded the hosting rights for this prestigious global event to convene at the home of the world’s largest LNG producer. LNG2025 will be held at the right time, in the right place. It will coincide with a number of relevant historic events for the LNG industry including the start-up of the North Field LNG expansion project and the commissioning of one of the largest Carbon Capture and Storage schemes in the world, which will showcase to the world our strong commitment to the environment. LNG vessel deliveries under the largest LNG ship construction program in history will also be well underway at that time.”
LNG continues to enhance global energy security and increase the flexibility of access to abundant global gas supplies. By hosting LNG2025, Qatar will help enrich the debate over the role of LNG in the world’s future energy mix, and create a conducive environment for growing LNG’s momentum in an environmentally challenged world eager for a cleaner and a more economical alternative to traditional fuels.
The LNG Event Series is held every three years, most recently LNG2019 in Shanghai and the upcoming LNG2022 is scheduled for St. Petersburg, Russia. For information on the LNG Event Series and IGU’s event portfolio contact the IGU’s Event Director, Rodney Cox, at info@igu.org
